Supplementary Protection Certificate
The term of a patent, concerning for example medical products or pesticides, may be extended by up to 5 years by applying for a Supplementary Protection Certificate (SPC).
The prerequisite for this is a valid marketing authorization. The application for an SPC has to be filed no later than 6 months after notification of the marketing authorization.
